Our friend Lauren texted me Saturday, while we were visiting home for the holiday weekend saying she had extra tickets to the VT game. We couldn't turn down free tickets and Brian decided we were young and wild, so that being said we would drive up to DC on Monday for the game, attend said game, and proceed to immediately drive back home after seeing the Hokies play. So that is what we did, and though it was a little easier said then done, we had such a great time.
We hit alot of traffic so it took us over 6 hours to get up to Fedex Field. We got to see some friends very quickly before the game, and headed on in. Not to mention we had our poor doggie with us who we left in the car (hopefully that doesn't make us horrible doggy parents...we promise we won't do that with real kids) The game was very exciting and a blast, even though we lost in the last few minutes. We had such a great time and I am actually kind of proud that my husband experienced true Hokie heartbreak. He really was distraught from the loss, which means he is really becoming a HOKIE! I told him that you get used to the heartache, and it is kinda like a hurtful relationship that you keep going back to, and each time it hurts a little less and you grow numb to terrible losses. haha.
Well it took us a good two hours just to get out of the parking lot. Sampson got scared of the fireworks being shot off in the parking lot, so he crawled up in the front seat with Brian to hide. We finally made it out and on the highway, and started the "do everything you can to stay awake" drive home. Around 4:30 in the morning we pulled into our driveway and happily climbed into our cozy bed. Brian was able to sneak into work later then normal this morning so he got a good 4 hours of sleep. Oh what a good memory we will have of our Hokie adventure. Hopefully our Hokies will come back and have a winning season.

love the hokie bandana on sampson :) sounds like a fun weekend. wish we could've gone to the game. i think when you marry a hokie you become a hokie - at least it seems to work for brent and brian!
Glad Brian is a true hokie now. It's funny since reading it, I was telling people that hokie football is an emotional relationship. It was a fun game to be at - even with the loss. I didn't realize that fireworks were going off in the parking lot - we must have gotten a great parking space since we got out quickly.
