It seems so unreal to me that tomorrow makes it two years. Two years since that cold windy day in April that our lives changed forever. Terrible things happen everyday in this world, but it could never happen to those around me that I love, especially my beloved Hokies.
Virginia Tech and what it means to me: I knew Virginia Tech was the school for me the night of the Texas A&M game in the middle of Hurricane Isabel. The home crowd was in full force, bleeding orange and maroon that night in the pouring rain. I am pretty for sure the roar of the stadium could be picked up on the richter scale that night. The spirit, the solidarity, and passion of the Hokie Nation is something to behold. I know that sounds strange: its just a school, right?
I met friends for life there and learned a lot about growing up. I made both good and bad decisions while in school, but either way I always learned a lesson. Yes, I did learn in the classroom, but I learned more about friendship, relationships, and after April 16h, I learned a lot more about the meaning of life.
Two years later, I take a little more meaning out of it. Yes, I went through anger, disappointment, and despair after the tragedy. I was mad at God and couldn't understand why this could ever happen. Honestly, I still don't understand and somedays I get fed up thinking about it. All I know is that everyday is a day to be grateful for. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, that is for sure.
I could rant and rave for hours what I love about Virginia Tech. The football games, the drillfield, duck pond, hokie stone, horticulture gardens, Burruss Hall, and much much more. Ultimately, Virginia Tech is a group of students, alumni, facility, and staff that has a special bond. I don't know where it comes from, but I know it has solidified even more in the last two years. I am proud that I bleed orange and maroon. I am a Hokie!
Remember those 32 lost, and keep their friends and family in your thoughts and prayers. Their hearts will never be completely healed but hopefully they can find some peace and comfort.

Let's Go hokies!
I don't understand either, but know that one day in Heaven, it will make sense. I just think of Lauren McCain and praise God that so many people came to know Jesus after her death because of her death. I wish it didn't have to be that way, in a way, but in light of eternity...it gives us some peace.
no we will never forget...I love you ...mom
