All,
Hello and good day to you all. I hope you all are enjoying your afternoons. It is currently 2330 and the boat is slowly rocking from side to side. We currently are doing operations off the coast of Africa. I can't tell you where we are exactly, but I can tell you that there is a huge desert close by, it's called the Sahara desert (I am sure you have heard of it haha). Its cool cause when we are close to land you can look out and all you see is sand. It's like a huge beach that goes on forever haha. So I haven't sent a newsletter out for a little bit, but I've been busy. This past Monday we got into Lisbon, Portugal where we spent 3 days resting and recovering from our trip over the Atlantic. And when sailors say resting, they really mean drinking haha. Then we drove down to Morocco to pick up some shipriders.
And this is where we are now, doing operations with Morocco. I have been getting a lot of stick time driving. On our way down to Morocco I was swerving in and out of fishing nets and buoys, it was quite interesting. One of the pictures shows me using the binoculars to search for the nets. Then another picture shows me on the fantail (stern) where I was safety for mooring in Portugal. I look official, don't I? haha. And finally another picture shows me fishing, you know me I need my fishing.
Well it is my wife's birthday today and I miss her. I am homesick :( I think you all should wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hahaha. Oh you should see the sky over here at night. I have never seen so many stars in my life. I have seen ten shooting stars, Jupiter and its moons, some sort of northern lights looking thing over the desert, and a bright orange moon that's so close I feel like I can touch it. Its pretty neat. I have seen sea turtles, porpoises, and whales. It is quite the experience. However, while being underway is nice, someone can always find you to do work no matter what time of day. That's one thing that sucks; you can't escape home after the work day. I AM ALWAYS WORKING!! The life of a JO. Well time to get some bed. I will keep my updates coming.
Until Next Time,
Brian
