Three months have come and gone since that cold January morning when Miss Hannah came into this world and boy has it been a wild ride. Whoever says the first month is the hardest has never met our daughter. I would definitely say these last few weeks have been some of the toughest yet of parenting this vivacious little munchkin.
From the moment she wakes to the moment she is put down at night she demands attention and constant entertainment. Bored is her middle name. You can just see it in her eyes; she is ready to be a big kid. You can sense the frustration of not quite able to figure out toys, sitting up without tumbling over, and speaking her mind. She chat chat chats all day long but seems to get fed up when she realizes we have no clue what she is talking about. She really is the cutest thing but trying to keep this kiddo happy and content can be tiresome. I have a feeling our sweet little babe is going to turn into one wild toddler very quickly.
Everyone always comments on how alert she is. She never
seems to miss a beat. She always has to be facing out towards the world taking
in every new sight. Its funny how the big thing these days is not over
stimulating babies. I don’t think I have really witnessed a moment when she has
been over stimulated and cranky because of it. It seems to be the opposite with
her; if she goes just a few moments without something to grasp her attention
she throws a baby fit. I love those bright curious eyes of hers and am excited to see her beaming personality grow.
Despite feeling a wee bit worn by the end of each day, I
look forward to mornings with Hannah. I can’t get enough of that moment when
she wakes up, sees my face, and flashes me the biggest smile.
Some moments to remember from this past month were from Hannah’s
first trip to Florida, where she got to meet lots of family and friends. She
got to ride on an airplane, sit in the cockpit with the pilot, go to her first
Rays baseball game, visit new restaurants, put her toesies in the ocean water, hang
outside all day, and her favorite of all-being entertained by people that love
her oh so much. Some new milestones are grasping at toys, putting up with tummy
time for a little bit, and sleeping on her back for a few hours every
night. Her favorite things are her mobile, sign language, ceiling fans, and new people to interact with. She has however been displaying some early
signs of teething. I got my first teeth at three months and supposedly it can
be hereditary. I am really hoping our little drool monster will hold off on
that one for a few more months.
I am excited to spend some time in Virginia this
month. It may be a little selfish of me but I am looking forward to having some
extra hands during the day to keep this girl occupied. We will really miss
Brian though as he is off at school in South Carolina. Cheers to a new month,
new moments and milestones, and hopefully a more content baby.
P.S during the writing of this post I have moved my child from the swing, to my lap, to play mat, to under her mobile. She is has gone from happy, to bored, to mad, back to happy, bored, and mad again several times. Now she is officially angry since mobile has stopped as I am wrapping this up. Oh Hannah, I LOVE you!
