Little Coop is two months old.
With these last two posts I have honestly had a tough time figuring out what to write about. Life with Cooper has felt slow and fast, tiring and exciting, emotional and joyful, chaotic and calm...often all in the same day. AKA my brain feels like mush.
There was this night. Brian was at some event or something, I don't really remember. In other words he left me to fend for myself and these two little humans. I was desperately trying to get everyone to sleep. Hannah had been in bed but yelling for awhile and Cooper was screaming. Hannah started screaming something about her bum hurting so I reluctantly went in to check. She lifted up her hands and proclaims, "I got a little bit of poop crumbles on my finger."I sniff, she tells the truth. Meanwhile, Cooper is still wailing. You know, the inconsolable pterodactyl type of scream. The worst. That night I felt so overwhelmed, so helpless, so frustrated. Retelling it, it just sounds like a funny story.
There really isn't too much of a point to writing about that. I don't have an outstanding tagline (that my friends would require a working brain). Its just life. There are so many moments like that, where I feel overwhelmed by just two little people. It seems so silly.

Thankfully there are so many wonderful beautiful moments. I love watching these two kids together. Cooper is really starting to smile and show more of his personality. It is just about the best and most heartwarming thing to see my little offspring interacting with each other joyfully. One of my biggest hopes is for a lifelong friendship between our kids. That they truly love each, encourage each other, and of course do things like wash the dishes and mop my floors for me together.

So more on Cooper. Like I said, he is smiling and it is so darn cute. There have been a few nights where he seemed inconsolable so I have brought him into Hannah's room to rock while I have been getting her to bed. He seems to love Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. As I am singing it, he drops his pacifier, flashes me the sweetest smile, and coos the cutest little tone over and over. I just love it.
Cooper is a really strong dude, at least in comparison to Hannah as an infant. Girlfriend still can't do a sit up without awkwardly rolling over on to her side and pushing up with all her might. Cooper is already rolling over from stomach to back and can lift his body and head really high during tummy time. He kicks like crazy and is just so active. This little fella absolutely loves bath time, he kicks up a storm splashing water everywhere. I cringe a little thinking he might be more mobile and a curious explorer much much sooner than Hannah ever was.

Cooper is getting be a pretty good sized fella, weighing in today at 12 lbs 14 oz. Sleep habits are a little iffy. The last three nights he has actually slept some long 8 hour stretches. Unfortunately for me, I don't go to bed at 8:00 pm like him and he often has a tough time falling back to sleep at night after feedings. So while he is sleeping 8 hours, he thinks it is perfectly reasonable to be wide awake at 3:30 am. "Mom, why don't you want to squeal and kick with me? This is fun! How about I poop my diaper 3 times in a row while I am awake for some extra entertainment."

All in all Cooper is doing really good. He seems to have a little tummy issues but has really become much much happier in the last two weeks. He will happily sit in his swing which makes life feel much more manageable for me. I was really struggling for awhile with his fussiness to ever get anything done and in turn was just feeling really unbalanced and honestly pretty blue. It is nice now to have a little routine and organization going on. While our house is far from sparkling clean, I don't feeling like I am drowning in chaos anymore, and for that I am super grateful.
I am thankful for this little boy. It has been really nice these last few weeks of him being happier to truly enjoy quality time with him. Getting into a better groove around here has allowed me to take more time to just soak in his cuteness. I love holding him and making him smile. That is the good stuff folks. Its not always pretty around here. My patience, oh my patience, I keep praying for more of it but good grief, these kids sure can bring me so much joy. I strive to love them better, show them the true love of Christ, and relish in the joyful times. Its not an easy task and I often feel inadequate but I am thankful for grace and feel honored to have this opportunity to raise these little munchkins. So with that, happy two months of life to our little Cooper. We love love LOVE you little dude.
