Is your cup half empty.....

I have noticed a trend in weddings and gifts. Every couple has one item that they receive a ton of as a gift. First for a disclaimer: take no offense if you were one to purchase such item for us or other people mentioned in this blog. Everything was much appreciated and we realized how blessed we are with such supporting family and friends.

Moving on- I remember my sister Abbey received loads and loads of towels for her wedding. She probably could fill up a swimming pool with all the towels she got. Brian and I got two sets of towels, so we had to go out and buy a few more. Maggie on the other hand was graciously given truckloads of crockpots. Brian and I have one miniature crock pot sitting under our cabinet- i think it was made for elves. Some friends of ours were saying how they literally have tupperwares full of dish towels, and they got married the same day as us, so it disproves that it a year to year difference. We, on the other hand, actually went out and purchased dish towels, because our two given as gifts couldn't stay clean long enough.

On to our big wedding gift-glasses. We have glasses with Ds, Tampa Bay glasses, Buccaneer glasses, a multitude of wine glasses, plastic outdoor glasses, beer mugs, fancy glasses, everyday glasses....72 total. Good thing though, I drink a lot of juice and water :) Should I dare to pic out my favorite out of those glasses, I think I shall, hopefully without offending any of the other glass purchasers. I love the one's with a D. They are those Tervis Tumblers, and al' be darn they do really keep your drink cold...and not to mention they have our initial on them, splendid!

Now moving on to my next point. There will probably be a time when I actually need to purchase more glasses. My sister Abbey, or was it Rich, had on his or her facebook status something like this, "You know you have been married for a long time when your last appliance from you wedding breaks." I look back from living at there house, and remember all those towels they got, they are now faded and somewhat raggidy. This is to poke at them for raggidy towels, because those towels serve their purpose, to dry. In fact I don't think my parents upgraded to new good looking towels until we all moved out of the house. There just isn't a reason to when so many bodies are drying off and wearing them down everyday.

The point is, I am not quite sure...but we are so grateful for all the household goods that people gave to us to start up in our house and marriage, merely for the sake of getting hitched. There is no way that we could of been able to afford all of that on our own, just no stinking way. I can't believe how kind people can be. Yes, we do have a lot of glasses, but the fact is things break, get old, and wear down.... unless you have those old puke green colored mixing bowls like my parents that never break. In fact Maggie and I saw them for sale in an antique store. Thats when you know your parents are getting....wise. Alright, I am off to have a glass of juice. Buhbye Now!

Your comment about your crock pot made for elves made me laugh so hard I spewed tea all over myself. :)

I keep contemplating new towels....but alas, they work well for their job.

However, we do need a new microwave and a grill. Bummer.

Yay for new wedding gifts! Enjoy all your drinks:) you sure can host one heck of a shindig :)
