However, I am proud that not only did he pick a spectacular place but got an amazing deal. The American Club, a FIVE star resort (I didn't know there was such a thing), was having an incredible military special for Veterans Day. The American Club is located in Kohler, WI home of Kohler Co....you know the bathtubs, toilets, sinks, etc. The American Club actually was once housing for immigrant employees for Kohler. Its a unique place, the whole town revolving around the company.

What a wonderful little day trip it was. When we arrived we indulged (and splurged) on the most delicious Sunday brunch buffet. Absolutely incredible! After stuffing ourselves, we visited the Kohler Design Center where we pretended to be designing our own home. Turns out if we were wealthy and were designing a spectacular kitchen and bathroom, we have the same taste. Phew, good thing...just in case that day ever comes. After that we wandered around their shops and bought some fancy little chocolates.

When it was closer to check in time we went and used the water spas at the part of the hotel we were staying at. We were staying at the Carriage House, where the spa is actually located. The Carriage House has complimentary breakfast, tea time with snacks, and dinner appetizers with adult beverages. The spa is absolutely gorgeous, though I don't know if I can ever get used to walking around in a robe.

Brian had called earlier and asked about rooms. He told them he really wanted one of the cool rooms with a separate shower with all sorts of shower heads and whirlpool tub. That is one thing we have learned is that it never hurts to ask for complimentary upgrades. It is something that we always do and most of the time we get some kind of upgrade. Well this time, we got upgraded big time, to one of the nicest rooms that they have.....like a $600 a night suite. It was so lovely!
We had such a wonderful stay, enjoying our giant shower, whirlpool tub, the water spas, the delicious food, and the nicest service I have had at a hotel. I felt totally spoiled. At night they have room turn down service. Not only do they turn down your bed, they clean up around the room. We came back from dinner and found everything tidy, clothes folded, and slippers ready by the bed. It was such a relaxing stay and such an appreciated getaway for the two of us.
