First Easter.

Hannah has been attending church since she was just a wee eight days old. She must of found sermons to be boring because she slept soundly in them up until last week. One of my biggest fears is being THAT mom with the crying baby in church. I myself am easily distracted by noises and people, so I never want to be the one distracting others. Well my fear came to life as my normally slumbering church going babe decided sitting in her car seat was much too frustrating. I found myself not paying a lick of attention to the message because I was shoving a pacifier in my babies mouth every two seconds.  This Sunday was Easter, so we decided to give it one more go on having Hannah sit with us during church. Hannah was a perfect little happy baby sitting in her car seat smiling the whole sermon. All this to say, Hannah just loves Easter....obviously!
Easter is a wonderful reminder and celebration of the resurrection of Christ. That said, I can be a bit of grinch when it comes to all modern day holiday traditions. I want to focus my attention on the real purpose of the holiday rather then the silly things we have come up with over the years, but in turn I find myself being grouchy instead. I really didn't put much thought into Easter and honestly didn't think of getting my kiddo a basket full of goodies. I did decide that I would at least buy the cutie a sweet little spring dress. Figuring she probably wouldn't even make it out of her car seat I wasn't about to buy her a foofoo Easter outfit that would only be worn once and hardly seen and admired. I had fun browsing through all the cutesy dresses at Target and getting her dressed up for church for a change.

Although it never even crossed my mind to take our baby to see a creepy bunny at the mall, I did snap some pictures of Hannah and her Daddy's first Easter stuffed bunny. He was cleverly named "Bunny" and has been passed down to our little girl.

It was a great first Easter for our gal. I know she won't remember it but all these first moments are so fun for us as parents. I am hoping to find a better balance of celebrating future holidays with the respect for its original purpose but also fun for our kids. I hereby make a commitment not be such a grouchy Grinch.
